Bacteriostatisch water voor injectie is steriel, niet-pyrogeen water dat 0,9% benzylalcohol (9mg/mL) bevat, toegevoegd als bacteriostatisch bewaarmiddel.
Het verschil tussen bacteriostatisch water en steriel water is dat ander steriel water voor injectie geen bacteriostatisch middel bevat. Als zodanig zijn het flacons voor eenmalige toediening en moeten ze na eenmalig gebruik worden weggegooid.
Eigenlijk het beste oplosmiddel als gevolg van de conserveermiddelen om de zuiverheid, integriteit en efficiënt lost gevriesdroogde aggregaten. (HGH, HCG, Peptiden..)
